Environmental Studies @ Central Michigan University

During my time at Central Michigan University I earned a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies and a minor in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Some of the courses I took were public speaking, conservation of natural resources, introduction to outdoor recreation, teaching of outdoor skills, foundations of outdoor and environmental education, park and natural resource management, planning recreation programs and events, and leave no trace ethics.
My involvements included being vice president of student environmental alliance, a member of take back the tap, sustainability advocate for Robinson and Barns community, and a member of the sustainability coalition.

Visitor Services Intern @ Student Conservation Association, U.S. Forest Service
May 2019 — Aug 2019
This past summer I had the opportunity to work with the Forest Service as a Student Conservation Association intern. Through this position, I gained customer service and communication skills by answering visitors questions via phone, at the front desk, and out on trails. I had the opportunity to interact with families, parents, grandparents, and people of all ages from all over the world. I also had the opportunity to develop my interpretation skills by creating and leading programs for guided hikes and campfire programs.
Environmental Education Intern @ Knoch Knolls Nature Center

During my internship, I assisted the naturalist with planning and teaching nature camps. Some of the topics and activities we covered include fishing, gardening, creek exploration, and crafts I worked with children aged 5-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Additionally, I worked the front desk, greeted guests and answered their questions, and assisted with various tasks at the nature center. I helped prepare for and work a nature festival event. I also cared for a box turtle, fox snake, garter snake, and tiger salamander.

Oct 2017 — May 2019
In this position I worked directly with the exhibit coordinator on art installations, exhibits, display cases, and managing the Library’s art collection. Some of my routine tasks included making labels, hanging art, lighting art, and changing out the showcase in the main corridor.
