Research Assistant @ U of Miami Advanced Nano-Studies Lab
May 2017 — May 2018
• Worked on two major projects simultaneously as the sole undergraduate student on the research team, consisting of two Associate Professors and one PhD Student.
o The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
 Conducted self-hypothesized research pertaining to the micromechanical failure analysis of low aspect, short fiber composite materials (expecting publication by 2019).
 Created the “Cluster Factor”, a Matlab algorithm that predicts the initial failure location within a short-fiber composite structure.
 Presented progress updates using Microsoft Powerpoint during bi-weekly conference calls with DARPA.

o The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
 Tested the electrical performance of composite batteries with regard to changes in fiber orientation and matrix properties.
 Modeled battery structures on Solidworks; subsequently performed analyses using the finite element method with Abaqus.
